Tanzania is arguably the most special country on the African continent. Its changing and beautiful landscapes, its lush, varied and abundant flora and fauna or the richness of its cultural mix are proof of this. It is the birthplace of the magical Serengueti National Park and the monumental Kilimanjaro. In Dreams of Africa Safari we encourage you to make this immersion in the wild and authentic Africa.
Day 1: Arrival
We will pick you up at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, according to your arrival times and destination. One of our guides will wait for you at the airport to help you with your luggage and take you to the city of Arusha, where your adventure will begin. Arusha is one of the most important cities in the country, surrounded by wonderful natural parks, is the perfect place to start our journey. It is located at the foot of Mount Meru, which with its 4.566 meters of altitude is the second highest point in the country. Arusha is a multicultural city, a range of religions and cultures that coexist in total harmony. You will have unlimited cold water as well as wifi network in our cars. We’ll transfer you to the hotel. If you are not too tired, we invite you to stroll around the city, enter its markets and mingle with its people, or have a taste of the delicious local beers. You will be surprised by the proximity and friendliness of this city of the Great Rift Valley. (Accommodation, breakfast and lunch)
Day 2: Arusha National Park
After breakfast, we will head to Arusha National Park. Arusha National Park is a nature reserve located in northern Tanzania. It was established in 1960, and houses a rich variety of flora and fauna on its grounds. It is the territory of Mount Meru and Ngurdoto Crater, an extinct volcano. In the middle of the morning, we will take advantage of the beautiful landscapes, to make a stop along the way and have a tea or coffee surrounded by such magnificent views. If you want to enjoy a guided canoe safari on Lake Momella within Arusha National Park in Tanzania, we’d be happy to arrange it for you. We will enjoy a picnic meal, in one of the areas enabled for it in the park. During our safari you will be able to observe giraffes, Cape buffaloes, zebras, wild boars, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, flamingos, elephants, lions, leopards and many other African animals. The life of birds in the forest is prolific, so more than 600 species coexist in it. It is the only park where you can observe Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro from the same place. Transfer to Lodge/Hotel. Day 3. City of Arusha to Tarangire National Park (2,850 km2/ 1,005 mi2)
We will pick you up at the Lodge / Hotel in Arusha and head to Tarangire National Park to make our first safari. The park extends along the Tarangire River line and consists mainly of low hills on the plain of the Great Rift Valley. Its natural vegetation consists of acacia forests and gigantic baobab trees, with huge swampy areas in the south. In the middle of the morning we will make a stop to stretch our legs and drink if you wish a tea or coffee that gives us the energy necessary to continue our safari. In Tarangire National Park, both the river and the marshes act as a magnet for wild animals, during the dry season of Tanzania. Tarangire National Park has a reputation for containing some of Africa’s largest herds of elephants. After so many hours of emotions we will make a stop to eat and replenish strength, with a picnic meal, in one of the many enabled areas within the park. Then we’ll resume our safari. This African National Park is also home to three rare species of animals: the large kudu, the fringe eared oryx and the ashy starling. (Full board)
Day 4: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, we will return to Tarangire National Park to spend the full day of safari on it. This National Park is the third largest in Northern Tanzania and the only one where you can observe the centuries-old forests of Baobabs. In the middle of the morning, we will make a stop on our safari to have a tea or coffee in the shade of these giants of the nature. The park is known as an elephant sanctuary and its population reaches 6000 specimens. We will eat picnic type in one of the areas enabled for it, and then resume our safari. In Taranguire National Park, the landscape and vegetation is very varied with a mixture that is not found anywhere else in the northern circuits. Return to the lodge/hotel. (Full board)
Day 5: Manyara Lake/KaratuAfter breakfast we will head to Lake Manyara National Park, established as such in 1960 and declared in 1981 biosphere reserve. Lake Manyara, a shallow and salty lake, has 231 km2, with a length of 50 km and a width of 16 km, is located at about 600 m altitude. It has a great diversity of landscapes and on its banks inhabit buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos and a large number of birds. In the middle of the morning we will make a short stop to enjoy a tea or coffee. The lake was formed more than two million years ago, when the waters filled the lowlands after the formation of the Great Rift Valley. The lake contains large amounts of salt and phosphate. Of the 329 km2 of Lake Manyara National Park, the alkaline waters of the lake cover approximately 231 km2. We will serve you a picnic meal in one of the areas enabled for this in the park. Although known to baboons, the lake and its surroundings are also home to herbivores, such as hippos, impalas, wildebeest, elephants, buffaloes, wild boars and giraffes; and birds such as flamingos, long-crested eagles and grey-headed kingfishers. Leopards and lions, although elusive, are also part of the park’s wildlife. Transfer to the lodge/hotel in Karatu area. (Full board)
Day 6: Karatu/ Eyasi Lake
After breakfast we will head from Karatu to Lake Easy, home to the “hunter-gatherers”, an ethnic group called Hadzabe. This tribe of Bushmen has characteristics and customs very similar to those of the Bushmen of south Africa. The small people of this indigenous tribe are probably the last to live in true harmony with nature and have a great knowledge about the flora and fauna of the place. Enjoy this unique experience, accompanying this tribe on their hunting day and learning to use, like them, the resources of nature. Transfer to the hotel. (Full board)
Day 7: Karatu/Ngorongoro/Parque Nacional del Serengeti
After breakfast, we start with a trip to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a unique landscape awaits you. From its viewpoint we will see the impressive panorama of the Crater in all its splendor. During our tour we will observe multiple Masai villages, wildlife, and we Will make a stop on the way so that you can take some photo surrounded by these incredible landscapes and enjoy, if you wish, a tea or coffee. We will continue driving south, to enter the Serengeti National Park, continuing our safari during our route. There’s a lot to watch, more than 1.5 million wildebeest and 700,000 zebras are on their way here on the famous annual migration. We’ll serve you a picnic meal. Once you arrive at the Lodge/Camp, a night full of emotions awaits you, while dining comfortably in the middle of the savannah and sleeping surrounded by the sounds of nature. (Full board)
Day 8/9/10: Serengeti National Park (14.763 km2 / 5.700mi2)
Today is the day! The incredible Serengeti awaits you. At 14.763 km2 the Serengeti National Park is the largest in Tanzania and one of the largest on the African continent. We will leave early in the morning for a full day Safari in the park, cradle of Masai culture and the house of the “Big 5”. As you know, we will stop in the middle of the morning for a tea or coffee and continue in search of wildebeest migration, including predators (lions, leopards, cheetahs) and other mammals (antilopes, gazelles, zebras, hippos, hyenas). The black rhino, giraffe (national animal of Tanzania) or herds of elephants and African buffaloes, are some of the many animal species that can be found in the Serengeti National Park. We will eat picnic in the middle of the savannah and continue our adventure. The Serengeti National Park is the oldest in Tanzania and the main tourist attraction of the country. It was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1981 and its wildlife is of incomparable wealth, so make sure you have your photographic equipment always prepared. Don’t miss the opportunity to observe the wonderful sky in the African night, or to hear a beautiful Masai legend by the fire. Don’t forget that if you wish, we can help you hire a balloon safari service. Definitely a special way to observe the Serengeti. The same routine will be followed on days 9 and 10. (Full board)
Day 11: Serengeti National Park/ Ngorongoro (19.2 km diameter, 610 deep, 304 km2)
Equipped with our picnic lunch, we will leave the magnificent Serengeti National Park to get on the road to Ngorongoro National Park. We will resume our way back through the endless plain and enjoying our daily safari during the route. As every day, in the middle of the morning, we will stop to replenish strength with some drinks or fruit and we will continue with our way to the conservation area of Ngorongoro. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected area located 180 km west of arusha city in tanzania’s volcanic highlands. The delimitation of the conservation area runs along the border of Ngorongoro District. The protected area covers an area of 8,288 km2. In the Ngorongoro Conservation Area we can find nine volcanoes, of which only one of them is active, the Oldoinyo Lengai. Also, there are one of Tanzania’s most interesting and world-renowned sites, the impressive Ngorongoro Crater. Picnic food. (Full board)
Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we will descend 2.000 feet to the bottom of the Crater in our 4×4 vehicle to explore this Garden of Eden. Ngorongoro is a huge, deep volcanic crater with rich pastures, swamps, forests and permanent water on the crater floor. That’s why the wildlife here is so diverse and numerous. Following our customs, in the middle of the morning we will stop for a coffee or some butter cookies, to resume our safari with energy. There are up to 25.000 large animals that live here. It would be the best opportunity to see the black rhino and many other rare species. We will have a fantastic day and we will see the wildlife at its best. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places in the world to photograph wild animals up close, without interfering or altering their daily life. A paradise of fauna and flora, without a doubt a unique place. In the afternoon we will go back to the crater walls to return to our Lodge/Camp. If you have the opportunity to observe the sunset over the Crater, feel lucky. It’s one of the images you won’t forget for the rest of your life. (Full board)
Day 13: Ngorongoro/Arusha/Airport
Today is our last day, so after breakfast, we will head to the city of Arusha. If your schedule allows, we advise you to take advantage of this day to buy souvenirs in the city. Tanzanian craftsmanship is a real marvel. Transfer to the airport for international flight. (Accommodation and breakfast)
